Job summary: 

A Housekeeper’s main responsibility is to maintain the cleanliness of the assigned areas in the Seaside Inn and the Ocean House Hotel. Excellent presentation and orderliness is the epoch element of judging the quality of any business. The housekeepers ensure that they demonstrate efficient and industrious service to their guests. Housekeepers report directly to the assistant managers.


Description of responsibilities: 

 Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:

Sweeping, vacuum cleaning, steam cleaning, washing, polishing, and dusting. Laundry duties include stain pretreatment, washing, drying, sorting, and folding of towels and bed linens, kitchen rags from Squid Ink Coffee and on occasion guest laundry.

  • Change over bedrooms in a timely manner, working in pairs, following the procedures and policies given by the general manager.
  • Immediately notify the assistant manager on duty of any damages found to the bedrooms and of any items taken or left behind by the guests.
  • Clean and organize all common areas, inside and outside the inns.
  • When cleaning, pay attention to repairs and maintenance work that needs to be done and notify the assistant manager on duty. Keep hallways clear of cleaning supplies for safety and keep all employee closet doors shut.
  • Wash, dry and fold all the linens from the inns and cleaning rags from Squid Ink Coffee. Important: must report each load of rags washed to the assistant manager on duty for billing purposes.
  • Please fold 280 thread count and 340 thread count sheets together.
  • Put away towels and sheets in the designated areas in the linen closets, keeping the same size sheets grouped together.
  • Wash, dry and fold customer laundry.
  • Cleaning caddies and cleaning supply closets must be restocked daily at the end of your shift.
  • Notify the assistant manager on duty of any cleaning supplies and amenities that are running low and need to be reordered.
  • Provide customer service to the guests by supplying them with extra pillows, etc.
  • Daily clean the mooring shower, switching to that particular location on Clockify.
  • Ensure superior housekeeping standards in all customer areas. Maintain the same high standard in the back of house (storage and laundry spaces).
  • Change over Lobster Lodge and Crow’s Nest (switching to Crow’s Nest on Clockify) apartments following the procedures and policies given by the general manager.
  • Cleaned common bathrooms at both inns daily.
  • Change over vacation rentals as needed following the procedures and policies given by the general manager.
  • During down time weed the flowerbeds at both properties and pick up trash outside.
  • Help the assistant manager on duty put away deliveries.
  • Complete the tasks on the daily checklist and give initialed checklist to assistant manager on duty at the end of every shift.
