PORT CLYDE STRONG

In response to the many requests from the community, the St. George Community Development Corporation has established the Port Clyde Strong Fund. Falling under our Community Good program, the Port Clyde Strong Fund is a restricted fund that will be disbursed to meet the needs of those St. George neighbors and businesses impacted by the tragic fires on the Port Clyde waterfront. A committee of involved community members and the Community Development Board of Directors will review and approve all distribution of funds. This fund will remain open for three years (closing in October of 2026) at which time all remaining proceeds will be turned over to the St. George Volunteer Fire Department or, in the event they are no longer a volunteer service, the committee along with the Community Development Board of Directors will vote on where the remaining funds will best support the community. Through these collective efforts, our community can begin to heal and rebuild, transforming tragedy into a symbol of hope and unity.

Under federal law, the Community Development Corporation must be given full control and authority over the use of donated funds, and donors may not earmark funds for the benefit of a particular individual or family. The Community Development Corporation is responsible for taking into account the charitable purposes for which it was formed, the public benefit of its activities, and the specific needs and resources of each applicant when using its discretion to distribute funds.
